In said law, it is stated that this body has as its mission the custody, supervision, improvement and protection of the journalist profession in the country.
Thus, the objective of this organization is, among other things, the promotion of communication and defense of full freedom of expression, of the press and of information, with respect for human rights as a reference.
Journalist's Day is a commemorative day, dedicated to all communication and journalism professionals who work every day to discover and investigate issues of public interest, but also to be able to contrast them and make them known based on objectivity and information transparency.
At present, where Chilean journalism is going through a series of difficulties related to ethics, one of the objectives of this conference that has been held for more than 63 years is the fight for a reconversion of the profession.
