The Liberator's Birth Day commemorates the birthday of Bernardo O'Higgins , who was given birth on August 20, 1778 in the city of Lima. This Chilean politician and military man is recognized as one of the Founding Fathers of Chile , due to his crucial participation in the country's independence process from the Spanish crown.
