How was Pisco Day born?
Pisco Day has been celebrated since 2009, because that year the Ministry of Agriculture issued a decree in which it established to take on May 15 to celebrate this popular national distillate.
May 15 was chosen because on a day like this but in 1931, Chile dictated the limits of the area where this drink could be produced. The regions of Atacama and Coquinbo were chosen. Thus, Pisco Day is celebrated as the anniversary of this event.
Unfortunately, this drink has not been without controversy, as there are still those who dispute the origin of the distillate and its name "pisco". However, the Peruvian and Chilean distillates are not completely aligned so they would not be the same, however the battle continues.
The truth is that while this battle is being resolved, we can enjoy the tastings, discounts and other events that take place on Pisco Day in Chile.
