The Day of the Announcer in Chile remembers and celebrates all those people who, since the beginning of radio telephony in our country in 1922, emit their voice through electromagnetic waves that reach all Chilean homes and around the world. These people, just with their voice, become true public servants by being there every day, ready to entertain, educate and inform no matter what happens.
Birth of Announcer's Day in Chile
Despite the fact that the Radio and of course all the professionals of the voice-over and radio have existed since 1922, the Day of the Announcer in Chile is new; It has existed for 4 years.
The reason is that in our country since 1991, by decree of President Patricio Aylwin, the National Day of the Sonora Broadcasting Worker has been celebrated every September 21st. With this date they wanted to modify the decision of the previous administration of President Juan Antonio Ríos who instituted Radio Day in 1942 and which was celebrated every September 21; date on which all Chilean stations were silenced for 24 hours.
However, a day dedicated exclusively to highlighting the work carried out by radio broadcasters in Chile was never instituted. This day already existed in other countries of the region such as Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Argentina.
For this reason, on April 14, 2014, the Círculo de Amigos del Microfono met with the authorities of the local and national governments, where they made a request to establish Announcer's Day in Chile . This request was accepted by all.
Thus, on April 5, 2017, it was decreed by Law 28.001 published in the Official Gazette that every April 14, Announcer's Day would be celebrated in Chile.
